Hartford

Hartford

The inspiration for the brand Hartford developed in October 1979 in New York City. Yves Chareton started his vision to design vintage shirts from the forties and fifties, like the ones he found at the flea markets in Porte de Clignancourt in Paris back in the sixties. Thanks to a producer who believed in his vision, Yves was able to launch a casual and cool vintage inspired shirt collection. Hartford immediately was a big success and fans such as Bruce Springsteen were ordering dozens of shirts, which he loved to wear at his concert by the way. The brand became a synonym for quality material, full colors and especially authenticity.

Within a few years Hartford grew from a shirt collection to a complete men's line. Thereby they stayed faithful to the inspiration to reinvent and modernize traditional fashion. Supported by clients and the press Yves created his own universe in the year of 2000. First he extended Hartford with a vintage inspired swimwear-fashion collection, then he introduced a women's line, and finally followed by a kids collection. All collections share the same solid philosophy on which the brand Hartford is based upon: elegant but never trendy!
Today the brand is available in eleven own Hartford boutiques in France, as well as the most known department stores all over the world, such as Le Bon Marché and Le Printemps in Paris, Liberty of London, Barneys in New York City and Isetan in Tokyo. Beyond that you'll find Hartford in hundreds of high-end boutiques worldwide.
